The First AI Ad Library — What We'll Surface at Launch
Meta has the Ad Library, Google has the Transparency Center. When AI ads run at scale, there will be an AI Ad Library. We're building it. Here's what it will show.
Meta has the Ad Library. Google has the Transparency Center. TikTok has its Commercial Content Library. When AI surfaces start running ads at scale, there will be an AI Ad Library — a public index of every sponsored placement detected across ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude and Gemini. We're building it. Here's what's coming.
Why an AI Ad Library matters
Transparency tools follow ad systems with roughly a 12-24 month lag. The Meta Ad Library lagged Facebook ads by 14 years; the Google Transparency Center lagged Search by 21 years. AI-surface ads will see the first transparency tools within the first 12 months of broader availability — because the regulatory environment (EU DSA, US state laws) has already set the baseline expectation.
What the AI Ad Library will expose
| Field | Available? | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Sponsored placement (text + product card) | Yes | Snapshotted via daily probing |
| Surface (ChatGPT, Perplexity, etc.) | Yes | Per-surface tracking |
| Query that triggered it | Yes | We re-run the same query daily |
| First detected date | Yes | When we first saw the placement |
| Brand | Yes | Linked to a normalised brand entity |
| Category / vertical | Yes | Auto-tagged |
| Spend or impressions | No | AI surfaces won't expose these |
How it's built
- Query corpus. 10,000+ commercially-loaded probing queries refreshed daily.
- Multi-surface probing. Every query run against ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, Gemini.
- Placement detection. NLP classifier identifies sponsored mentions and product cards.
- Normalisation. Brands and products mapped to canonical entities.
- Diff. Daily diff vs prior day for change detection.
- Public surface. Browsable index, free to read.
What the AI Ad Library will be used for
- Competitive intelligence. Which competitors are appearing in AI surfaces, for which queries.
- Brand safety audits. Detect ads in contexts you wouldn't approve of.
- Category mapping. Which categories the surfaces are monetising first.
- Regulatory research. Compliance with EU and US disclosure rules.
- Academic research. First open data on AI-surface advertising.
Launch plan
The AI Ad Library opens in beta in Q3 2026 to AdScrape API customers, then publicly in Q4 2026. Free tier: 1,000 lookups per month. Coverage starts with ChatGPT and Perplexity; Claude and Gemini follow.
Sign up for early access at adscrape.in. We'll share the first dataset and let you query competitor brand visibility before public launch.
